With the availability of Plug and Play harnesses for Parrot Car Kits, more people are considering saving money and doing it themselves, although professional installation is always recommended.

 

The first thing to do is to decide which car kit to buy, please look at the "How choose a Car Kit " or you can call us anytime and we can help you with the decision. 

 

The Parrot Car Kits all come with various mounting options, however, the optimum way to mount the display is to use the 2-way tape provided for the cleanest install. You will need to find a flat spot on the dash to accommodate the mounting display, the CK3000 and the MK6000 are screen-less car kits and are very small, so the mounting position is rarely a concern. The MK6100, because of it's 2 piece design allows the display to be mounted easily on the steering wheel column, as long as you do not feel the display is not blocking any critical dash information, it usually is the ideal spot to mount this particular car kit. For the CK3100 and CK3200, our 2 most popular car kits, The CK3100 has the rectangle shape and tends to be easier to locate a flat spot on the dash, the CK3100 display is 2 3/4 inches in length and 1 3/4 inches in height. The CK3200 display is the color TFT unit that has a square display measuring approximately 2 1/2 x 2 1/2. Both car kits offer the best audio clarity available in any hands free product at any price, they are truly Business-Professional Class Hands Free!

 

Now for the microphone placement, it is always advised to have the microphone positioned near the rear view mirror, clipped on the edge of the headliner, (NO GLUE) instead of the drivers side pillar, a very common place the microphone is positioned
by installers.

The reasons to NOT install the microphone on the pillar is as follows:

 

While on a hands free call--

 

1. The use of the visor will block or hit the microphone.

2. Opening the drivers side window will create wind noise.

3. While entering or exiting the vehicle, sometimes people will grab the drivers side pillar which is where many installers will install the microphone.

4. If your passenger(s) are part of the hands free call, it will not be as clear for the listener as the microphone would only be near your voice.   

 

Finally, now that you have selected the car kit and know where the microphone will be placed, you now know what to tell your installer to do, otherwise, he will use his discretion on where to install the display and microphone, if you plan on installing yourself, the following are the things you need to be aware of--

 

1.Make note of your radio stations, as you will lose them when you unplug your car's wiring harness from the back of your  radio.

2.Make note of the radio's security code if applicable, you will need this!

3.Be careful of breaking any clips that hold the dash together.

4.Be careful of the air bag sensors.

 

Make sure when using our Plug and Play harnesses that the harness is straight and when you push the plugs together, they literally click to ensure a Plug and Play connection.
